Recording from the companion app

Record Now is separate from monitoring — it always records, on its own schedule if you want one.

Record Now starts continuous recording immediately, independent of whether the Mac is monitoring — it's the same "always capture, not just on motion or sound" mode a schedule window can set to "Record continuously," just started by hand instead. Stop Recording ends it. Neither one turns monitoring on or off; a manual recording and the monitoring switch run alongside each other, unaware of one another.

While recording continuously — manual or scheduled — footage is split into files around the segment length set in Recording Schedule, rather than one file that grows without bound. Changing the length only affects the next file; it doesn't cut the one currently being written short.

Recording Schedule edits the same windows the Mac's own Settings does — each has days, a start and end time, and either "record on motion or sound" or "record continuously." Saving here pushes the change to the Mac immediately if it's reachable, and it picks the change up on its next reconnect otherwise. If the Mac's own UI or another paired phone changes the schedule at nearly the same moment, whichever save reaches the relay second is asked to try again with the newer copy rather than silently overwriting it.
