Why the name?
Why OdinCam?
Odin didn't have to be everywhere. He just had to listen.
The one who saw everything
In the old Norse stories, Odin was the chief of the gods, and he kept watch over all the worlds. He had a high seat called Hliðskjálf, and from it he could see everything that happened, near and far.
He cared so much about knowing what was going on that he gave one of his eyes for wisdom.
And he had help. Two ravens flew out every morning over the whole world. Every evening they came home, settled on his shoulders and told him everything they'd seen.

Your cameras do the same for you
That's the idea behind OdinCam. You can't be at home all day, and you shouldn't have to be. So your cameras keep watch for you: a Mac, or a spare iPhone or iPad on a shelf.
When something happens, they bring the news straight back to your phone:
- A picture, the moment it matters. Every alert comes with a picture of what moved.
- What it was. A person, a dog, a cat, or one of your own pets by name: "Rex", not "an animal".
- The whole story when you want it. Watch the clip, scrub back through the day, or open Live View to see what's happening right now.
Like Odin's ravens, they report only to you. What your cameras see is locked so that only your own devices can open it. Our Security & Privacy page explains exactly how.
Why "Cam"?
Because it's a camera. Odin is the story; the camera is what keeps an eye on your home and your pets while you're out.
Peace of mind, not surveillance
OdinCam isn't about watching every second. It's about not having to wonder. Is the dog all right? Is everything quiet at home?
Just check on them.
