Help Record the moments you want
Resolution and quality
Bigger frames cost storage and CPU on every frame. A camera can only give what its source sends it.
Resolution sets the size of the picture that is recorded. Higher costs more in three places at once: disk space per clip, processor time on every frame, and — for a USB capture device — bandwidth on the cable.
Detection is unaffected. It works on a small downscaled copy whatever the resolution, so raising this buys detail in the clips and nothing else.
A camera cannot give you a resolution it is not receiving. An HDMI capture device passes on whatever its source sends it, so asking for 4K while the source outputs 1080p leaves you at 1080p — OdinCam will say so on screen rather than pretending otherwise. Change what the source is set to output, and the higher resolution becomes available on its own.
If frames start being dropped for long enough, OdinCam steps the resolution down by itself and tells every paired device why.
