Help Get told when something happens
Spoken warnings
Have a camera speak when it sees someone at set times: your own recorded voice, or words you type.
A camera can play a warning out loud through its own speaker when it sees a person, a dog, a cat or any movement during the hours you choose. For example: "You're on camera. Please leave." at the back door from 10 pm to 6 am.
To add a warning on iPhone or iPad:
- Open the camera, then tap ⚙︎ to open Camera Settings.
- Tap Spoken Warnings, then Add Warning.
- Under "When … sees", tick People, Dogs or Cats. Leave them all unticked to warn about any movement.
- Under During, turn off All day and set From and Until, then tap the days it applies.
- Under Message, choose My Voice and tap Record Message (up to 15 seconds), or choose Typed Message, type the words and pick a voice.
- Tap Listen to hear it, set the volume and how often it may play, then tap Save.
To add a warning on the Mac (for this Mac's own cameras):
- Open Settings and choose Warnings.
- Pick the camera at the top.
- Click Add Warning and follow steps 3 to 6 above.
When it plays. Only while the camera is Monitoring, and only when it records an event: so the camera must notice what the warning is for. If "What starts a recording" is set to cats only, a warning for people never plays. A sound alone never plays a warning; something has to be seen. Times are the camera's own clock.
Only when nobody's home. Turn this on for a warning that should play only while the household is out, so the camera can keep Monitoring all the time without talking to you when you're there. It plays only while every phone that shares whether it's home says it's away. If no phone shares that, or OdinCam can't tell, the warning stays quiet. It's off unless you turn it on.
One at a time. If several warnings match, the first one in the list plays. Drag them to change the order. A warning won't play again until its "Play at most once every" time has passed (2 minutes unless you change it), and never over another warning that's still playing. Someone talking from Live View always comes first.
You'll know it played. Everyone in the household gets an alert such as "Warning played on Back Door: person seen", and the event shows "Warning played" with what was said.
Turning one off. Use the switch beside it in the list. Swipe left (or choose Delete Warning) to remove it.
Private. Recordings and typed messages are encrypted for your household's devices before they leave the device you made them on. The server passes them on but can't hear or read them, and can't make a camera say anything.
A device that just joined may show "Can't open these warnings yet" for a minute, until the camera has updated them for it.
